Site Credits

Given that this site had no budget it was built with as many free resources as we could find. So, below are links to the people and organizations that made some of their work availible free of charge. This version of the site was designed and is maintained by John Lockhart. So, just send John an e-mail if you have any questions about it.

Free Resources We Used for the Site

  • Subtext blogging software - The blog on the news page provides a simple and direct way to post news and announcements to the community. We used the open source blogging blogging software Subtext to add the news blog to the site. The Subtext implementation was simple and relatively painless. Using Subtext worked very well because it does something very specific very well without trying to be and do everything. We didn't find ourselves spending time trying to rip out functionality we didn't want, and could focus on integrating the blog into the look and feel of the site. In addition, getting Subtext running was much less painless than we thought it would be, and the participants on the Subtext forms were a great help as well.
  • Font Diner - The font for the site banner and navigation buttons is a free font named Featured Item made availible by Font Diner. In addition to being nice enough to make some cool fonts availible for free, they have great packages of professional retro fonts at reasonable prices.
  • Wellstyled - The Wellstyled site is a great resource for a number of CSS techniques. In building this site we really appreciated their clear documentaion and examples of their non-preload rollover technique used for the mouseover and click effects for the buttons.
